Azad presently works as a lecturer in the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Doha for Science and Technology. His major research interests are renewable energy, life cycle assessment, sustainable urban planning, climate change and ecosystem based adaptation, waste water treatment, desalination and decentralized waste management modelling. He has extensive experience working in the chemical, petrochemical, and waste water industries in the United States and Canada. He formerly worked with Dow Chemical Company, Union Carbide and General Electric, in the United States, as well as in the industrial waste water and energy audit fields in Canada. He was also an environmental officer for the United Nations (UN) Mission in Haiti (MINUSTA), where he was in charge of environmental audits for military and police personnel from various contingents across the world. He has over 15 years of teaching experience at colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Bangladesh.
